Adventures in Empathy

“KNOWING THAT WE CAN BE LOVED EXACTLY AS WE ARE GIVES US ALL THE BEST OPPORTUNITY FOR GROWING INTO THE HEALTHIEST OF PEOPLE.”

― Fred Rogers, The World According to Mister Rogers: Important Things to Remember

Adventures in Empathy

Empathy is, quite simply, standing in someone else's shoes. To feel what another is feeling, to understand that we are all humans. This practice, empathy, is crucial to the social and emotional development of children. To supplement counseling curriculum, we will be exploring "the shoes" of others. Whether it is the local grocery store worker, the nurse taking care of us or our family members, or the sibling, who we may or may not "get along with well", Adventures in Empathy serves as a reminder to focus on others' feelings, lives, and struggles.
